A Dog's Life

Just heard this song on KAL-X...reminds me of Marcy Playground and Sibylle Baier and the 90's rolled together.  Her voice is lovely...that country twang...that Neil Young feeling.

Death

Two tracks from the 2011 compilation album Spiritual, Mental, Physical by Detroit's Death.  These songs were written between 1974 and 1976 and were compiled by Drag City into this kick ass 10 song album.

These brothers are the real deal.  Fucking raw as The Stooges and Bad Brains ever were.

Youth in Asia, Live 9-2-12

Here's a very dark video of 4 songs from our set that night.  The audio for these songs wasn't as bad as the rest.  SOunds all right!

Youth in Asia will be playing a show on Friday March 1st in Oakland at 1525 Webster Street.  Within the gallery will be the works of Dan Isaac Bortz.  Music starts at 11.  It's going to be loud, fast, and angry.  I hope to see friend and foe alike!

YiA is:
Brian Azevedo (Brian O'blivion)--Guitar, Vocals
Darwin Doud (The Darwin)--Bass, Vocals
Paul Bowman (Steely St. Paul)--Drums

Pull the Plug

In a bedroom
dark and blurry
full of noises he hears
always.

Vegetable man, alone in the can-
nothing but the water at your feet,
but I can see you
plugged in and passed out
living in strange dreams.

(and) If I pull the plug
will you smile?
(and) If I pull the plug
will you feel relief?

You're a dead man,
stained man,
barely conscious thing.

To kill a dead man
is not so hard a thing.

So pull the plug,
Pull the plug,
end the dream
and pull the plug.

You're a shadow man
tired man
let me help you sleep.

To kill a dead man
is not so hard a thing.

You're not the same.
That's where the pain begins,
but if I pull the plug,
will you feel relief?
and if I pull the plug,
will you smile?

Hang on to Yourself

I Can't Answer You Anymore

Sorry for all the Elliott Smith posts but I've been on a kick.

Something came from nothing today
While I was saying no.
So don't you knock on my door,
'Cause I can't answer you anymore.

Absence makes the heart grow fond
Stayin' away from people.
Was a question before,
But I can't answer you anymore.

Skip to the scene where we meet,
And roll the song.
I did everything right
For somebody that does everything wrong.

So I go from coast to coast
Over the Hawthorne bridge
To the one I adore.
You asked me what I'm looking for,
But I can't answer you anymore
No I can't answer you anymore.

Here's a new video of Elliott Smith playing with Jon Brion on The Jon Brion, which never really took off, unfortunately.  But this footage is great and fresh from some archive.
